Info

Well, here we go—my first blog! I guess I should explain what the name of it means, huh? Well, kind of random, but the title comes from this catchy song by Yvonne Chaka Chaka ... it's a South African song in the Xhosa language, which isn't really in the area we're going, but anyway ... Yvonne is acting as a woman who brews this stuff she calls her "magic beer", which she wants everyone to try. Haha anyway you can watch the vid for yourself ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4NHvaV78dI (incidentally it's also featured in the opening to Hotel Rwanda).

But Yvonne's character reminded me of someone the first time I saw this clip, someone else who is blessing others around her in a "magical" way ... Heidi Baker! :) Because of the amazing work God is doing in her ministry, I jumped at the chance to see her—that is Him—in action ... you can look her up if you're unfamilar with what's been going on over there Mozambique, but basically stuff of biblical proportions ... food multiplication, dead raising (over 400 confirmed by now), the whole deal! Sadly, though, it looks like our chances of meeting up with Heidi are slim at this point, but we definitely have the same "magic beer" to offer, "beer" of a spiritual kind! ... I think old Pete put it well when he said: "Listen up everyone, we might seem drunk, but this is something deeper, something that was prophecied long ago: 'In the last days, I will pour my Spirit out on everyone—your children will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will have dreams ...'!

Or, as C.S. Lewis put it in The Weight of Glory (1949),

"It would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us"! ..

So .. I hope that this blog you can give you a little taste of our "Umqombothi" :)

But ok, enough of this silliness for now .. below please find the itinerary and all the relevant info for our trip, so you have a timeline and know what to pray for when! If I'm not able to update this blog as regularly as I would like, take a look at http://www.marktubbs.com/ to see updates posted there!

Here we go!—

Pray for the Love of God to flow mightily and be accompanied by signs and wonders, salvations, and healings. Pray for the team to move in confidence and joy!

April 2-4. Regional Training Events, Orphanage, and Outreach in Western Kenya (Kisumu, Magunga Migori.)

After gaining some experience and awareness, we are ready to be sent out and go to various events throughout the region. There are four centers with leaders and people from the congregations. These events are the highlight for many Kenyans. One center is an orphanage. Our teams conduct practical trainings on healing, prophecy, and walking in the power of God.

Pray for God’s power and presence to manifest. Pray for an anointing for healing and prophetic ministry. Pray for our hosts, Kenyan pastors and leaders of HIM. Pray for the churches to be equipped and uplifted. Pray for the children to receive His love.

April 5-6, Safari/Travel Day, and Rest day

It will be good to have a day of fun and fellowship. After a long day of travel we will then go to a hotel on the beach and rest.

Pray for the unity, bonding, and refreshment of the team.

April 7-8, Ministry in Drought Areas

Kenya has just suffered a great draught and there are regions where food and water have been sparse. We are going out to deliver food, and spiritual strength to people in two areas.

Pray for wisdom and insight how to minister to the hungry and see the ways Jesus can touch them. Pray for the presence of the Lord to bring comfort, healing, and salvation.

April 8-10, 3RD ANNUAL HIM LEADERS CONFERENCE

Pastors and Leaders from up and down the coast will meet together for a conference. These represent many of the 750 churches HIM now has in Kenya.
